A community carrying Peru into New Brunswick.
The site had to carry a sense of roots, movement, costume, music, family, and invitation before it asked people to click through pages.

Raíces peruanas en movimiento
Peru Baila helps people stay close to Peru while inviting neighbors in Moncton into the culture. The public experience needed to feel like a doorway into dance, performance, support, and community.
Overview
The website had to carry two ideas at once: keep Peruvian culture active for people connected to Peru, and make that culture welcoming to the wider Moncton and New Brunswick community. Every page and feature had to serve that doorway.
The site had to carry a sense of roots, movement, costume, music, family, and invitation before it asked people to click through pages.
Visitors needed to feel what Peru Baila represents, then find a practical next step: learn, perform, book, volunteer, support, shop, or ask a question.
Interac e-Transfer, shipping, tax, and final confirmation depend on business rules, so the interface could not pretend support and checkout were fully automated.
The work was delivered during a 7-week WIL practicum with Gravitit Tech Solutions, with the portfolio story staying careful about ownership and production details.
The challenge
Peru Baila needed a public experience that felt true to the association’s purpose: keeping Peruvian roots active while inviting the Moncton and New Brunswick community into the culture. The site had to make classes, appearances, troupe work, boutique products, donations, and contact paths feel connected instead of scattered.
What I did
The site was shaped around Peru Baila’s cultural mission first: a bilingual public home for the association story, programs, troupe performances, community appearances, boutique products, contact paths, and donation support. WordPress-backed content and WooCommerce-connected storefront behavior support that experience without letting the boutique become the whole story.
Programs
Classes, troupe pages, and event surfaces create entry points for families, dancers, volunteers, and organizers who want to learn, book, or support Peruvian dance.
Performance
The troupe page frames Peru Baila’s performance company, bringing coastal, Andean, and Afro-Peruvian traditions to stages, streets, and community gatherings across New Brunswick.
Boutique
The shop landing presents cultural merchandise as a tidy WooCommerce-connected entry point, so the boutique supports the association without overpowering the cultural experience.
Product detail
Product detail screens support cultural merchandise, product imagery, quantity selection, cart flow, and order creation through WooCommerce-connected surfaces.
Support
The donate page presents recipient details and banking-app guidance directly, so supporters understand how their contribution helps keep classes, costumes, rehearsals, and performances accessible.
Inquiries
The contact page provides clear, multilingual pathways for program inquiries, volunteer signup, booking requests, and general questions.
Community surface
Peru Baila is not only a storefront. The site has to explain the association, make public programs easy to scan, and give people clear ways to learn, book, volunteer, donate, or reach out.
The build
A Next.js front end over headless WordPress content and WooCommerce-connected storefront surfaces, with payment and donation steps kept honest about what stays manual.
Next.js
Responsive pages for bilingual cultural content, program discovery, storefront surfaces, donation guidance, and contact paths.
WordPress
Program, event, and public association content can be managed through WordPress-backed workflows instead of hardcoded page updates.
WooCommerce
Boutique products, cart flow, order creation, and manual payment instructions support the association without becoming the main story.
Interac
E-Transfer instructions keep payment expectations honest when confirmation still depends on manual follow-up.
Practicum role
Working within a two-person practicum team at Gravitit Tech Solutions, I contributed to the bilingual Next.js front end, WordPress-backed public content, WooCommerce storefront integrations, and user confirmation workflows. Production ownership and broader client delivery remained with the agency.
Integrated Zustand state management to handle local cart states, synchronizing product availability, quantity bounds, and order payloads with WooCommerce REST endpoints.
Configured Next.js App Router dynamic dynamic locale path segments `[locale]` to render Spanish and English content seamlessly across classes, troupe, and boutique pages.
Configured headless WordPress connection helpers to pull dynamic event, community booking, and troupe schedule data, keeping the website updates client-manageable.
Designed a manual Interac e-Transfer transaction UI, aligning user checkout inputs with manual administrative verification steps to ensure transaction honesty.
Outcome
A public home for Peru Baila, a Moncton-based cultural association sharing Peruvian dance, music, and heritage with communities across New Brunswick.
