About this policy
This policy describes the Note Nest iOS app developed by Brian Cabello. Note Nest is a local-first notes and reminders app that works without an account or Note Nest server.
Data stored on your device
Note Nest stores the content and organization you create locally using Apple SwiftData. This can include:
- Note titles and bodies
- Folders, folder appearance choices, and note-to-folder relationships
- Created and modified dates
- Importance and pinning choices
- Optional reminder dates
Note Nest does not send this content to a Note Nest server.
Notifications
Notification permission is optional and is requested only when you enable reminders. Note Nest schedules reminders through the local iOS notification system. A notification contains the title “Note Nest Reminder” and the related note title. Note bodies are not placed in notification content.
You can change notification permission in iOS Settings and remove a reminder from its note inside Note Nest.
Exports and sharing
You can create a versioned JSON export from Settings. An export can contain notes, folders, stable identifiers, flags, relationships, and dates. It leaves Note Nest only when you choose a destination through the iOS share sheet.
Note Nest does not currently import or restore an export. You are responsible for protecting and deleting exported copies after saving or sharing them elsewhere.
Data collection and sharing
Note Nest does not include analytics, advertising, tracking, third-party SDKs, authentication, CloudKit sync, or a backend service. The developer does not collect or receive data from the app in this release.
Retention and deletion
Your data remains on your device until you remove it. Deleted notes remain recoverable in Recently Deleted for up to 30 days unless you permanently delete them sooner. Deleting a folder removes the folder relationship but does not delete its notes.
Delete All Data in Settings permanently removes local notes and folders, clears Note Nest reminders, removes Note Nest results from system search, and leaves the library empty. Deleting the app also removes its local app container under normal iOS behavior.
Copies exported outside the app are not controlled by Note Nest and must be deleted from their destination separately.
This website
This policy is hosted on Brian Cabello's portfolio website. The website host may process standard request information needed to deliver the page. Website activity is separate from the Note Nest app, which does not transmit your note data.
Changes to this policy
This policy will be updated if Note Nest's data practices change. The updated date at the top identifies the current version.
